The Timekeeper that Time Forgot

What’s one thing you own that holds deep sentimental value?

The closest thing I can point to is a watch from my late Grandpa. It’s an old pocket watch from the 1940’s. There is a lot of perceived material and sentimental value in the pocket watch.

I cannot tell you where it is located at this moment. In a box, likely, somewhere, tucked away safely.

This watch disappeared from my life for a decade. Somehow, it has existed on my person through a housefire, homelessness, and myriad events and tragedies. I am not going to pretend to know how it survived all these calamities. I didn’t exactly keep track of it. I only know I found it in a box recently.

_Refuse to allow anything stop you to live and enjoy the life you were created for. What matters in life isn’t what God has given you, it’s what you do with what He has given you that truly counts and makes all the difference._

_Don’t leave your life to chance! You can’t really change what you tolerate, and sometimes, the things we don’t change end up changing us. Things don’t get better by chance, they get better by change._

_A change of status begins with a change of desire and until something within you changes, nothing changes around you. Irrespective of the situation, you are not helpless; you can do something about it. You are not a victim circumstances; you are a product of your choices, decisions, inactions and actions._

My mother, knowing I’m gay, gave me her mother’s wedding ring about 5 years ago. I wasn’t sure why, but she explained it was for sentimental purposes not for me to give to a partner.

At first I didn’t understand, why give me a ring I’ll never pass on? But after thinking about it more, it wasn’t meant to be passed on, it was for me to keep. A time capsule of my family and I cherish it greatly
